Dr. Ghaith Abu-Zeinah

Ghaith Abu-Zeinah, MD, is a physician-scientist at the NewYork Presbyterian Hospital of Weill Cornell Medicine (WCM). He earned his MD with academic distinction from the Weill Cornell Medical College in Qatar and completed both his Internal Medicine residency and Hematology/ Oncology fellowship at the NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medicine in New York. He joined the Richard T. Silver Myeloproliferative Neoplasms (MPN) Center in 2019 and his clinic is dedicated for the care of MPN patients. His research, both clinical and translational, is focused on identifying and developing treatments that target the MPN stem cells in order to achieve long remissions, and potentially a cure. His recent work has focused on understanding the the mechanisms by which interferon alfa may target the MPN stem cell, achieve durable remissions, prevent myelofibrosis, and prolong survival. His work has contributed to the MPN Research Foundation Interferon Initiative and led to several presentations, publications and awards. Additionally, he was awarded grant funding from the National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences to further his research into promising new treatments.
