Cancer Survivors Hall of Fame has inducted Patrick McMullan at its Annual Dinner Dance on September 25 at Tavern on the Green for the courage he has shown as a survivor of embryonal cell carcinoma. Annually the Cancer Research and Treatment Fund honors a person whose courage in their personal fight with cancer represents hope to others. Patrick McMullan is a photographer whose lens focuses on the worlds of celebrity, fashion and society. At the start of McMullanęs career, Andy Warhol encouraged him to carry a camera everywhere. It worked. McMullan is now asked to be everywhere. He is now considered both an invited guest and a member of the press. In addition, McMullanęs studio has evolved from a one-man opera-tion into a compre-hensive, digital imaging studio with a team of sea-soned shooters. His work appears regularly in his weekly column in New York Magazine, as well as monthly in Vanity Fair, Allure, ELLE, Interview, Harperęs Bazaar, and Hampton/Ocean Drive/Gotham, among others. He is a contributing editor to Menęs Health. McMullanęs fashion photography has been featured in Contents Magazine, German and Italian Cosmopolitan, Marie Claire, Details, The New York Times Magazine Part2/Fashion of the Times and OUT Magazine. The year 2001 was a creative milestone for McMullan: In January, the Tony Shafrazi Gallery staged an exhibit of photographs selected from Patrickęs recently published books Secrets of the River (Welcome Rain) and Menęs Show (Editions Stemmie). McMullan is currently working on the completion of yet another book. SO 80ęs ŻThis will be a look at everyone who ever went out in the 1980ęs,˛ says McMullan, whose photography career began in the early 1980ęs shooting for Details Magazine. SO 80ęs is a collection of images accompanied by essays and anecdotes from Patrickęs 1980ęs contemporaries, including: Bret Easton Ellis, Tama Janowitz, George Plimpton, Stephen Saban, Michael Musto, Page Sixęs Richard Johnson, among others. CR&T is honored to pay tribute to Mr. McMullanęs courage and the strength he has inspired in others.
