The Cancer Research and Treatment
Fund has honored Douglas (Doug)
McCormick at its Cancer Survivors Hall of
Fame Dinner Dance at Tavern on the
Green September 25. Dougęs support and
activity in womenęs and childrenęs social,
financial and medical issues represent a
great desire to make a difference in the
status quo and to reach out to empower.
Douglas W. McCormick is Chairman
and Chief Executive Officer of iVillage,
Inc., a leading womenęs media company.
Doug brings to iVillage more than two
decades of entertainment, broadcast and
new media success.
He served a six-year term as President
and CEO of Lifetime. During his tenure,
Doug and his team established Lifetime as
the number one womanęs brand in elec-tronic
media, growing Lifetime to the 9th
most profitable network (cable and broad-cast)
in the US. In addition to coining the
branding phrase, "Television For Women,"
he is credited with raising Lifetimeęs
market value by more than $3 billion in
five years, growing prime time ratings by
over 100% and quadrupling revenues.
Prior to Lifetime, Doug held executive
positions with The Samuel Goldwyn
Company, Cable Health Network, Petry
Television and KCOP-TV, Los Angeles. He
is also Founder and Chairman of
McCormick Media, Inc. a New York based
firm specializing in digital media conver-gence
and emerging digital networks.
Dougęs efforts on behalf of womenęs
and childrenęs issues have won him many
awards, including top honors in the New
York Womenęs Agenda, Girls, Inc. and the
Golden Cable ACE for Lifetimeęs efforts in
combating breast cancer. He was also cited
with the National Womenęs Political
Caucusę prestigious "Good Guy Award.ę
As a recognized leader in new media
and branding, he serves as a Director on a
number of Boards including the Child
Care Action Campaign where he acts as its
Treasurer, the Ad Council, the Womenęs
Sports Foundation and he is a former offi-cer
of the Cable Advertising Bureau and
prior Chairman of the International Radio
and Television Society Foundation. He is
a long time friend and Board member of
the Cancer Research and Treatment Fund.
