Estramustine Plus Taxotere for Solid Tumors
Phase-I evaluation of weekly intravenous estramustine phosphate in combination with docetaxel (Taxotere) in men and women with solid tumors. Previous studies have indicated that docetaxel combined with estramustine (a combination of nitrogen mustard and a form of estrogen) has potent antitumor activity in prostate-cancer patients whose condition is refractory to hormone therapy. This study extends evaluation of this drug combination to other solid tumors.
Closed to accrual.
Sponsor: Pharmacia Upjohn

HuJ591 Against Solid Tumors
A phase-I trial of radiolabeled monoclonal antibody HuJ591 in patients with metastatic solid tumors. HuJ591 recognizes the cell-surface domain of prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA), found in cancerous prostate cells and on the cells lining the blood vessels of many solid tumors. This study tests how effectively the antibody targets vascular PSMA and what side effects it has.
