CPT-11 and Aging
CALGB 60001: Prospective evaluation of the pharmacokinetics, pharmacogenetics, and pharmacodynamics of CPT-11 (irinotecan) and aging. Drugs used in chemotherapy have different ways of stopping tumor cells from dividing, and aging may affect the way these drugs work. This study compares the effectiveness of CPT-11, a drug that kills cells by interfering with replication of their DNA, on two groups of patients with solid malignancies ñ those 18 to 55 and those over 70.
